Jones out at first as O's lose challenge

PITTSBURGH -- The Orioles lost their challenge in the sixth inning of Wednesday's 9-8 loss to the Pirates, with the call standing to rule Adam Jones out at first base.

The two-out, bang-bang play on a ground ball to shortstop looked like Jones may have gotten a foot in there before the ball arrived, and manager Buck Showalter used his challenge for the fifth time this season. After a review of 1 minute, 57 seconds, the call stood and the inning ended with the O's trailing, 8-6.

The Orioles are 3-2 this season in replay calls going in their favor.

In the bottom of the sixth, Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen hit a double off the wall, and the umpires reviewed the call to check if it was a home run; it remained a double.
