Adrian's biggest fan? His 2-year-old daughter
Dodgers slugger has passed his dad's love of the game to next generation
To reach the heights Adrian Gonzalez has reached in his big league career, it requires a certain level of focus on the field. But if you watch closely, you could catch the Dodgers' first baseman sneaking a peek into the stands during games.
There, he often finds his daughter, Brianna.
"Sometimes I enjoy looking over, and I can see her look at me and go, 'Papa!'" Gonzalez said. "So it's a really good feeling."
Brianna is almost two years old, so she knows her father mostly as a Dodger, since he was traded to Los Angeles from Boston midway through last season. Gonzalez says she enjoys games at Dodger Stadium.
"She comes to the games," Gonzalez said. "She's very active, from what I hear. She loves 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame,' she loves the wave. For the most part, she didn't cry when the crowd got excited, the loud noises, and she didn't fall asleep until after the game, so she enjoyed the whole time."
The four-time All-Star grew up around baseball thanks to his father, David. He never played in the Major Leagues, but he played for the Mexican National Team and other amateur teams in either Mexico or the United States until he was nearly 50 years old.
Now a father himself, Gonzalez enjoys sharing the game with his own child.
"Just being with [Brianna], I guess you could say it completes my day," Gonzalez said. "In the morning when I wake up, it's just the greatest feeling in the world."
