Overturned call nixes Altuve steal, ends inning

HOUSTON -- A potential stole base by the Astros' Jose Altuve was taken off the board after the Marlins won a replay challenge Friday night.

With two outs in the sixth inning, Altuve singled up the middle. Miami lefty Brad Hand tried keeping the Astros second baseman close, throwing over to first a couple of times.

Altuve took off for second and he slid in head-first as Donovan Solano was collecting catcher Jeff Mathis' throw.

Solano swiped his tag toward Altuve's legs. Second-base umpire Todd Tichenor signaled safe.

Marlins manager Mike Redmond requested a review, and after 44 seconds, the call was overturned.

The Marlins are now 16-of-20 in replay challenges.
