Ailing wrist likely to sideline Crisp until at least Friday

MINNEAPOLIS -- Coco Crisp remained out of the lineup Wednesday, and Oakland's outfielder could remain off the field until Friday in Seattle.

That's the best-case scenario for Crisp, who may miss even more time while nursing an inflamed left wrist. He received a cortisone shot in the wrist Sunday, and it generally takes at least four days before a player can comfortably get back to action.

"I never expected him to play today," said manager Bob Melvin. "Tomorrow could maybe even be a stretch. We may be looking at Seattle."

When asked if Crisp was a candidate to hit the disabled list, though, Melvin quickly replied, "No."

Sam Fuld made his second straight start in center field on Wednesday in place of Crisp, who reached base safely in each of his five games to start the season.
