Reed hits for cycle for Class A Advanced Lancaster

A.J. Reed launched his 16th homer and became the second JetHawks player to hit for the cycle in two weeks

A.J. Reed became the second Class A Advanced Lancaster player to hit for the cycle this season and moved closer to the Minor League home run lead in the process.

After bashing his 16th home run in the first inning, the first baseman got himself into position for the cycle with a double in the fifth and only his fourth career triple in the seventh. With two outs in the eighth inning, the Astros No. 12 prospect came to the plate once more and hit a single to center field.

Lancaster beat the Rawhide, 11-3, as Reed finished 4-for-4 with a walk, pushing his season line to .323/.424/.597 with 59 RBIs, second in the Minors to fellow Astros prospect Jon Singleton.

The 2014 second-round pick's home run count is good for second in the Minors, behind only Twins No. 13 prospect Adam Brett Walker, who has 17 dingers. Reed's cycle was the second by a JetHawks player this year as teammate Marc Wik completed the feat on June 2 against High Desert.
