Report: A-Rod sick, won't meet with MLB on Friday

Alex Rodriguez was scheduled to have an investigatory interview with Major League Baseball on Friday in New York, but The Associated Press reported on Thursday night that the meeting has been called off, citing a source familiar with the process.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the AP that the Yankees third baseman remains in California with flu-like symptoms that will prevent him from making the trip.

According to the AP, Rodriguez hopes to be ready to travel by Monday, when his case will resume in front of arbitrator Fredric Horowitz.Through a grievance filed by the Major League Baseball Players Association, Rodriguez is fighting a 211-game suspension that MLB handed him on Aug. 5 for allegedly violating its Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program and the Basic Agreement.

The AP reported that MLB will argue that Rodriguez must answer its questions at the interview in order to be able to testify at the grievance hearing.
