Although sidelined, Machado 'enjoying the moment'

BALTIMORE -- Manny Machado was in the Orioles' clubhouse on Wednesday and will be in the home dugout cheering on his teammates for at least Games 1 and 2 of the American League Division Series.

"I'm excited to be here," said Machado, who was limited to 82 games and underwent season-ending right knee surgery in August. "I'm as much a part of this team as anyone in here, so we are taking all of this moment in. And [I'm] just helping anybody if they need help with anything. Just enjoying the moment like everyone is here."

Machado will fly to the team's Spring Training complex in Sarasota, Fla., after Friday's Game 2 since his rehab is a priority to get the 22-year-old back on the field next spring.

"I've got full range of motion already, so that's a good thing," Machado said. "Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll begin riding on the bike and get that going."

Machado also hoped he'd be cleared to do some pool running next week in Sarasota and is still preparing to be a full go in Spring Training. Machado wasn't sure if he would return should the O's and Tigers return to Camden Yards for a decisive Game 5.
