Pagan has discomfort in neck; Casilla's shin OK

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- It wasn't Angel Pagan's back, or his hamstring, or an oblique that sidelined him Friday.

Instead, the Giants' center fielder and leadoff hitter missed the workout with discomfort in his neck, manager Bruce Bochy said. This typically wouldn't be significant. However, staying on the field is a critical issue for Pagan, who has appeared in 58 out of a possible 134 second-half games in the previous two seasons.

Bochy hinted that he wants Pagan to acclimate himself to activity right now.

"[Saturday] I expect him to be back on the field," Bochy said.

• Closer Santiago Casilla seized upon the performing arts as a way to convince Bochy that he felt OK.

"He was dancing for me this morning," Bochy said of Casilla, who was struck on his left shin by a Casey McGehee smash in Thursday's workout.

• The Giants, who are beginning their 58th season in San Francisco, adorned the cover of their 2015 media guide with a photograph of the World Series trophies they won in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Left-hander Madison Bumgarner, who won Game 7 of last year's Series to end a record-setting postseason performance almost singlehandedly, was the most prominent figure in a photo of triumphant Giants taken after the final out that appears on the outside back cover.
