Angels claim Achter off waivers from Phils

The Angels claimed right-hander A.J. Achter off waivers from the Phillies on Thursday.

Achter, 27, has a 5.18 ERA in 18 career Major League games, all with the Twins. The Phillies previously claimed him in November.

Achter, selected by the Twins in the 46th round of the 2010 Draft out of Michigan State, is 22-18 with a 2.88 ERA in 187 career Minor League games (20 starts). He posted a 2.62 ERA in 43 relief appearances for Minnesota's Triple-A affiliate in 2015.
