Green exits with right-knee discomfort

Angels second basemen left the game after three innings

DETROIT -- Angels second baseman Grant Green exited Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Tigers after three innings with discomfort in his right knee, hours after the team placed its everyday second baseman, Johnny Giavotella, on the disabled list with an undisclosed illness.

Green, expected to be the everyday guy with Giavotella on the shelf, could've sustained the injury either diving for a grounder in the first or trying to break up a double play in the second.

The 27-year-old Green is 7-for-29 in the Majors this season but has been his usual, solid self in the Minor Leagues, sporting a .306/.337/.449 slash line in 414 plate appearances for Triple-A Salt Lake.
