Cowart homers, scores four runs at Double-A

Third baseman ranked atop MLBPipeline.com's list of Halos prospects

Third baseman Kaleb Cowart, the Angels' No. 1 prospect, homered and scored four runs Thursday, helping Double-A Arkansas to a 9-1 victory against Springfield.

Cowart went 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk and two RBIs. The four runs matched his career high.

Cowart's first-inning home run Thursday was his first since May 3, a drought of 41 games and 148 at-bats. He is hitting .217/.284/.327 with five home runs and 15 stolen bases in 69 games this season.

Second baseman Alex Yarbrough, the Angels' No. 8 prospect, extended his hitting streak to eight games with an RBI single in the sixth inning Thursday. He finished the game 1-for-5 and ranks ninth in the Texas League with a .294 batting average this season.
