Halos set to open '15 season against familiar foe

For second year in a row, Angels will face Mariners in first series

CLEVELAND -- The Angels will open their 2015 regular season in familiar fashion.

For the second year in a row and the 11th time in team history, the Halos will open their campaign against the Mariners. Los Angeles and Seattle meet in a three-game series from April 6-8 at Safeco Field.

The home opener at Angel Stadium takes place on April 10 against Kansas City, which could wind up being a postseason rematch. Los Angeles currently owns the best record in baseball, while the Royals lead the American League Central Division.

After completing their April 10-12 set with Kansas City, the Angels take their initial Texas two-step, playing at the Rangers (April 13-15) and Astros (April 17-19) in successive series for the first time since Houston joined the AL West in 2013.

Los Angeles is also slated to end the season against Texas at Globe Life Park from Oct. 1-4.

The popular Freeway Series between the Angels and Dodgers has been restored to six games after being cut to four in each of the last two years. Dodger Stadium hosts the first series from July 31-Aug. 2, while Angel Stadium has the second set from Sept. 7-9.

Los Angeles' other 16 Interleague games are also against the National League West.

The Angels will host Colorado (May 12-13), San Diego (May 25-27) and Arizona (June 15-16), while traveling to San Francisco (May 1-3), Arizona (June 17-18) and Colorado (July 7-9).

The Angels only have two East Coast trips. They visit Baltimore (May 15-17), Toronto (May 18-21) and Boston (May 22-24) in one 10-game jaunt, then head to Yankee Stadium (June 5-7) and Tropicana Field (June 9-11) over a seven-day span.

Los Angeles' two longest homestands are 10 games each. One includes San Diego (May 25-27), Detroit (May 28-31) and Tampa Bay (June 1-3), while the other follows the All-Star break and features Boston (July 17-20), Minnesota (July 21-23) and Texas (July 24-26).

The Angels' lengthiest road trips are also 10 games: The aforementioned Baltimore-Toronto-Boston journey and a late-season outing to Seattle (Sept. 14-16), Minnesota (Sept. 17-20) and Houston (Sept. 21-23).

Los Angeles plays 25 of its final 32 games against AL West foes.
