Angels to host Thanksgiving food drive this weekend

Fans can hit, pitch and catch at Angel Stadium after making donations

ANAHEIM -- The Angels will host their 15th annual Thanksgiving Holiday Canned Food Drive this weekend, with all proceeds benefiting the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

The event will take place Friday-Sunday and allow fans a chance to take batting practice, pitch in the bullpen and catch fly balls at Angel Stadium. For three cans of non-perishable food or $2, participants can take a swing from a pitching machine on the field, with a maximum of 20 swings per person. For two canned goods or $1, attendees can make a pitch in the bullpen, and for a $25 donation, fans can shag fly balls in the outfield.

The Angels will provide bats, balls and helmets.

Angels clubhouse attendants will also offer a tour of the clubhouse for a donation of $20 for adults and $15 for children. Participants enter through Gate 1 and proceed to the Field Level. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon PT on Friday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
