Bradley to get shoulder checked by Andrews

PHOENIX -- D-backs starter Archie Bradley wanted a second opinion after feeling pain in his right shoulder following his rehab outing for Triple-A Reno. This week, he'll look for clarity when he visits Dr. James Andrews in Alabama.

Bradley is leaving Phoenix on Tuesday and visiting on Wednesday with Andrews, who has a reputation of being one of the best orthopedic surgeons and has dealt with a multitude of professional athletes.

"The alarming thing to me is I haven't been through this before," Bradley said. "I've obviously pitched through some soreness and fatigue and some bad feelings, but nothing ever to the degree of the pain I'm feeling now."

Bradley went on the 15-day disabled list June 4 with shoulder tendinitis. He was on his way back when he felt the pain following his start for Reno last Wednesday.

Bradley said he has been pleased with the rehab process from the club's training staff, but his shoulder has not responded the way he had liked, so he brought up the idea of getting a second opinion.

"It was really, really bothering me," Bradley said. "Too much to ignore, too much to not say something."

The right-hander is 2-3 with a 5.80 ERA in eight starts this season. Bradley struggled quite a bit after a stint on the disabled list earlier this season after he was hit by a line drive in the face.

Now, Bradley said he wants to see what Andrews has to say about his shoulder, whether that means a different course of treatment or the renowned doctor finds something that has not previously been discovered.

"I just want to be pitching. I just want to be trying to help this team win," he said. "I'm not able to do that, my shoulder's not allowing me to do that, and I just want to get it right and get back as fast as I can."

• Starter Patrick Corbin (Tommy John surgery) is scheduled to make his final rehab start Thursday for Reno. It will be a light outing for Corbin, as he will not throw as many pitches as he has in recent rehab outings.

D-backs manager Chip Hale said Corbin should make his first start for the club since 2013 during next week's road trip to Texas.

• Outfielder Ender Inciarte (strained right hamstring) took early batting practice and ran Monday. Hale said he should take batting practice again Tuesday, and it will be determined sometime in the next week where Inciarte will go for a rehab assignment and how long he will need before returning.
