D-backs have Wildcats, champs on spring slate

The D-backs have announced their 2016 Spring Training schedule, opening with an exhibition against the University of Arizona at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, and concluding with two exhibitions against the defending World Series champion Royals at Chase Field on April 1-2.

The schedule features 17 home games and three "road games" at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, as well as two home exhibitions at Chase Field. The slate opens March 1 against Arizona (3:10 p.m.) as part of an annual Collegiate Series (last year featured a game against Arizona State, and the 2017 schedule will include Grand Canyon University).

"We are excited to kick off our 2016 Spring Training schedule against my alma mater the University of Arizona Wildcats," D-backs manager Chip Hale said in a release. "It will be a great way to start our quest for a championship."

The D-backs open Cactus League play on March 2 against the Rockies, with whom they share the award-winning facility. The Spring Training schedule features five games against the Rockies, four against the Giants and two against both the Padres and Dodgers.

Arizona will play three evening home games: March 16 against the Reds, March 21 against the Brewers and March 22 against the Giants.

Tickets for all games at Salt River Fields are priced from $11-$37, beginning with general admission lawn seating. The D-backs Plan offers tickets for each of the team's 17 home games at Salt River Fields that range in price from $187-$544. The two exhibition games held at Chase Field are not included in the Spring Training season-ticket package but are available in the D-backs' regular-season ticket packages.

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members and D-backs and Rockies season-ticket holders can buy season-ticket plans for Spring Training games at Salt River Fields exclusively, between Dec. 16-18. Season ticket plans for the D-backs' 17 home games and all 33 Spring Training games at Salt River Fields featuring the D-backs and Rockies, including the D-backs versus University of Arizona game, will go on sale to the public beginning Dec. 18.

Individual game tickets for all 33 games at Salt River Fields will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Jan. 9. Tickets can be purchased at dbacks.com/spring. Individual tickets for the two exhibition games at Chase Field will go on sale at a later date.
