D-backs announce All-Star Teacher winner

PHOENIX -- Elizabeth Zipp has been selected to represent the D-backs in the "Target Presents PEOPLE All-Star Teachers" campaign, which celebrates current and retired teachers who make an impact on the lives of their students and communities.

Zipp spent time in Cuba as an undergrad and, while there, realized her desire to help children take control of their lives and not let an impoverished background determine their future.

It is still that experience that motivates her to this day.

Zipp began her teaching career when she was accepted into a national teaching program for the 2011-12 school year and since that time she has been recognized for her commitment to her students and school.

Zipp will join one winner representing each of the 30 MLB clubs to be included in All-Star Week activities and recognized during the pregame ceremony of the 2014 MLB All-Star Game -- Tuesday, July 15 with pregame ceremonies beginning at 7:30 p.m. MT on FOX from Target Field in Minneapolis.
