Reddick remains out with neck issue

OAKLAND -- Josh Reddick remained out of the A's lineup on Friday because of a neck issue that continues to hamper his ability to swing pain-free. Sam Fuld started in right field in his place.

It's the second straight game missed by Reddick, who took a tumble at first base on an infield single in Wednesday's contest, injuring not only his neck but his left ankle. An MRI on the ankle showed no structural damage, and Reddick said Friday, "it's fine."

"But the neck is still something that's not ready for batting practice," he said. "From what I understand, I'll be available to pinch-hit because I can swing, but the way I explain it is saving bullets at this point. When I was hitting in the cage, it grabbed enough, so I figured BP wouldn't be very beneficial."

Manager Bob Melvin said the outfielder could "potentially be full-go tomorrow" after a day of rest.

• In other injury news, Melvin said Craig Gentry and John Jaso, both of whom are still experiencing concussion symptoms, remain status quo. Neither has resumed baseball activity, making it unlikely either plays another game this season.
