A's option RHP Cody Martin to Triple-A Nashville

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's optioned right-handed pitcher Cody Martin to Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.

Martin was recalled from Nashville yesterday and started last night against the Angels, taking the loss in a 6-2 decision. He allowed five runs on six hits in three innings and is now 2-4 with a 6.57 ERA in 22 combined appearances with the A's and Atlanta. The 25-year-old right-hander began the season with the Braves and also went 1-3 with a save, a 2.10 ERA and .198 opponents average in seven games, six starts, with Triple-A Gwinnett before he was traded to the A's July 2 for international bonus slot 53. Martin was also 3-4 with a 5.33 ERA and .267 opponents average in 10 games, all starts, with Nashville and combined for a 4-7 record and a 4.08 ERA in 17 games overall at Triple-A.
