A's Recall C Vogt from Sacramento; Option RHP Rodriguez to Sacramento

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland recalled catcher Stephen Vogt from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned right-handed pitcher Fernando Rodriguez to Sacramento, the club announced today.

Vogt was batting .364 with three home runs and 19 RBI in 21 games with the River Cats, including .433 with all three of his home runs and 15 of his RBI over his last 14 contests. He hit .413 against right-handed pitching and .400 with runners in scoring position. The 29-year old left-handed hitter missed over a month of the season as he was on the disabled list from April 9 to May 11 with a strained oblique muscle. Vogt batted .252 with four home runs and 16 RBI in 47 games with the A's last year and is a .213 career hitter in 65 games in two seasons in the majors.

Rodriguez was recalled from Sacramento May 9 and appeared in six games with Oakland. He was 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA and .143 opponents batting average in six relief appearances.
