A's Recall Max Muncy from Nashville; Place Kendall Graveman on 15-Day DL

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's have recalled infielder Max Muncy from Triple-A Nashville and placed right-handed pitcher Kendall Graveman on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique, the team announced today.

Muncy joins the A's for the third time this year. He was selected from Nashville for his first stint April 25 and batted .203 with two home runs and six RBI in 34 games before he was optioned June 30. He was recalled for his second stint July 28 following the Ben Zobrist trade, appeared in one game (a start at third base) and was optioned Aug. 4 after the A's claimed Danny Valencia off waivers from Toronto. Muncy is batting .207 with two home runs and six RBI in 35 games with the A's overall. He is also batting .268 with four home runs and 27 RBI in 50 games for the Sounds.

Graveman had a no decision yesterday afternoon after tossing 6.0 scoreless innings in the A's 8-2 win against Tampa Bay. Graveman was on the A's Opening Day roster and went 1-2 with an 8.27 ERA in four starts before he was optioned to Nashville April 26. He returned May 23 and is 5-7 with a 3.35 ERA in 17 starts since then. Graveman is 6-9 with a 4.05 ERA in 21 starting assignments for the A's overall. This is his first career stint on the disabled list.
