Astros acquire Bass from San Diego
Houston also receives a player to be named later or cash considerations
The Houston Astros have acquired right-handed pitcher Anthony Bass and a player to be named later or cash considerations from the San Diego Padres in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow.
Bass, 26, made 24 appearances, pitching 42.0 innings, across four stints out of the Padres bullpen in 2013. He also spent three months at Triple A Tucson and made 15 starts for the Tucson Padres. Bass has pitched in parts of three Major League seasons (2011-13), all coming with San Diego, and owns a career 4.08 ERA (85ER/187.1IP) in 75 appearances, including 18 starts. As a Major League reliever, Bass owns a career 3.64 ERA (36ER/89IP) in 57 appearances. He made his Major League debut in 2011 and posted a 2-0 record and a 1.68 ERA (9ER/48.1IP) in 27 appearances in his rookie season. In his 113 career minor league games (86 starts), Bass is 33-23 with a 3.48 ERA (177ER/458IP).
With the addition of Bass, the Astros 40-man roster is now at 38 players.
