Springer stuns with stellar diving grab

HOUSTON -- Though George Springer's had his recent struggles at the plate, he continues to showcase his speed in center field almost nightly.

On a Lorenzo Cain blooper during the Astros' 6-1 win over the Royals on Monday, the Houston center fielder hit a top speed, according to Statcast™, of 18.3 mph in only 2.7 seconds to make a diving grab and rob Cain of a hit for the third out of the third inning. According to Statcast™, Springer made his first step in -0.185 seconds, meaning he was moving before contact Cain made contact.

The catch kickstarted Houston, which would go on to score three in the home half of the inning and chase Royals starter Joe Blanton after just 2 2/3 innings.
