Biggio to be honored for hitting prowess
Astros great will be inducted into Ted Williams Hitters Hall of Fame
Former Astros great Craig Biggio will be inducted into the Ted Williams Hitters Hall of Fame on Saturday night at Tropicana Field.
The ceremony will take place during a charity dinner, which raises money for the Ted Williams Museum & Hitters Hall of Fame. Johnny Damon and Frank Howard will also be inducted, while Rays players David Price and Ben Zobrist will take part in the event.
Biggio, who played all 20 of his Major League seasons in Houston, fell two votes shy of induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in January, receiving 74.8 percent of the vote.
He finished his career with 3,060 hits, 668 doubles, 291 home runs, 1,175 RBIs, 1,161 walks, 414 stolen bases and 1,844 runs. He is the only player in Major League history to reach 600 doubles, 250 homers, 3,000 hits and 400 stolen bases.
