Singleton joins Minors leaders with 10th homer

Astros' No. 4 prospect continues to rake for Triple-A Oklahoma City

First baseman Jon Singleton hit his 10th home run of the season Friday, tying him for the Minor League lead, as Triple-A Oklahoma City defeated Omaha, 3-1.

Singleton, the Astros' No. 4 prospect and No. 47 overall, finished 1-for-3 with a walk. In 28 games, he is hitting .283 with a 1.031 OPS and has scored 24 runs.

Singleton is the third Minor Leaguer to reach 10 home runs this season. Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez hit 10 home runs at Triple-A Toledo before being promoted to the Major Leagues last week. Rangers' No. 5 prospect Joey Gallo, the reigning Minor League home run champion, hit his 10th on Thursday for Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach.

Singleton has now hit double-digit home runs in each of his first five professional seasons. He is one shy of matching his 2013 total, which he achieved in 90 games between three levels.
