Astros Reassign Five Players, Option Three to Minor League Camp

Four will remain with Major League club thru exhibition season

The Houston Astros made several roster moves this morning affecting a total of eight players in Major League camp. Five players were reassigned to minor league camp: shortstop Carlos Correa, left-handed pitcher Darin Downs, catcher Tyler Heineman, right-handed pitcher James Hoyt and infielder Gregorio Petit. Three players were optioned to minor league camp: right-handed pitcher Jake Buchanan, infielder Matt Dominguez and catcher Max Stassi. The announcements were made by Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow.

Downs, Heineman, Hoyt and Petit will remain with the Major League club through the end of the exhibition season.

Following the moves, the Astros Spring Training roster now stands at 32 players, including 30 players on the 40-man roster and two non-roster invitees.

The Astros, who are 10-8-4 thus far this Spring, will play their final Grapefruit League game in Florida on Wednesday before flying to Corpus Christi for an exhibition game vs. the Double A Hooks on April 2. Houston will then host two exhibition games at Minute Maid Park vs. the Kansas City Royals on April 3-4 before hosting the Cleveland Indians in the Home Opener on April 6.
