Award winner Chenoweth to sing national anthem Tuesday

Phillies Teva Respiratory Asthma Awareness Night on Tuesday, May 6; Features free asthma screenings for fans

WHAT:           On May 6, 2014, the Phillies will host its annual Teva Respiratory Asthma Awareness Night in honor of Asthma Awareness Month (May). In support of this important event, award-winning actress and singer, Kristin Chenoweth, will visit Citizens Bank Park to kick off the Phillies vs. Blue Jays game with the American national anthem and promote her involvement in a recent asthma awareness campaign, Know Your Count (www.KnowYourCount.com)

The evening also features free asthma screenings for fans at the First and Third Base entrance plazas to support the #KnowYourCount cause.

WHO:             Award-winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth has spent her life performing on stage and screen in front of millions of fans, but 10 years ago an unexpected health issue nearly derailed her career: she was diagnosed with asthma - a common, chronic disease of the lungs. While the disease did have an impact on her career and busy lifestyle, Kristin worked with her doctor to get her asthma symptoms under control and continued to pursue roles on Broadway, film and television.

WHY:             Nearly 25 million Americans suffer from asthma, with Philadelphia ranked as the fourth most challenging place to live with asthma according to a 2013 study by AAFA. While symptoms and severity can vary from person to person, asthma can be life-threatening in some circumstances. With asthma attacks accounting for approximately two million emergency rooms visits each year, it's critical that patients have their medication on-hand at all times. Through Know Your Count, Kristin is lending her voice to raise awareness of the seriousness of asthma and the importance of having a rescue inhaler with a dose counter in an effort to ensure patients have access to their medication when they need it most, like during an asthma attack.

WHEN:           Tuesday, May 6, 2014, 6:40 pm, Field, Citizens Bank Park, prior to 7:05 p.m. Phillies-Blue Jays game

WHERE:         Field, Citizens Bank Park, One Citizens Bank Way, Philadelphia, PA
