Baseball Night in San Diego returns this weekend

Saturday night's game against the Detroit Tigers at Petco Park will mark the return of one of the Padres' most popular promotions.

Baseball Night in San Diego is back with every Saturday night home game in 2014 featuring a giveaway for every fan in attendance.

The return of Baseball Night is San Diego is but a part the Padres' expanded and enhanced promotional programs in 2014.

The promotions schedule for 2014 includes two celebration weekends, pregame theme parties in the Park at the Park every Friday night, the continuation of Taco Tuesdays, College Nights on Thursday and 13 Sunday Salute to the Military games.

The Padres initiated the Salute to the Military program that is now a staple throughout Major League Baseball. The major events scheduled for 2014 as part of the Padres' Salute to the Military start this Sunday with Military Opening Day.

In addition to special Sundays for each branch of the Armed Forces, the Padres' tribute to the military will include Military Spouse Appreciation Day on Mother's Day (May 11), Salute to Military Children (June 29), Salute to Veterans (July 20) and Military Family Salute Day (Sept. 21).

The Padres will follow their tradition of wearing their camouflage uniforms every Sunday. And every Sunday pregame will also feature the return of KidsFest in the Park at the Park and Sunday Signings.

Baseball Night in San Diego giveaways will include three replica jersey nights (April 19, May 24 and July 19), long-sleeve T-shirts (April 12), Padres blankets (May 3), Padres beach towels (June 7), "Beat L.A." T-shirts (June 21), Padres sport bags (July 5), Padres fedora (June 28), Padres floppy hats (Aug. 2), Padres mesh hats (Aug. 30) and a Padres bobblehead on Sept. 20.

The Padres will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Petco Park the weekend of May 9-11 when the Miami Marlins visit. There will be a special fireworks display on Friday night. Saturday's giveaway will be a commemorative canvas art work, with the Military Spouse Appreciation Day on Monday.

When the Cubs visit May 22-25 for a four-game series, the Padres will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1984 National League title -- the feat accomplished by defeating the Cubs in the NL Championship Series.

For the first three games of the series, the Padres will wear throwback brown-and-orange 1984 jerseys. Padres fans will be encouraged to wear brown on Friday (May 23) on what is being called Padres Brownout Night.

The Saturday giveaway on May 24 will be a Padres retro replica jersey. Sunglasses will be distributed to the fans on Sunday.

Friday night parties include three popular BeerFests on May 2, June 6 and Sept. 19, as well as WineFest on Aug. 1. Those events start at 5 p.m. PT with entry included with a paid ticket. Petco Park will also host the Summer Sky Blast fireworks show on Friday, June 27.

In addition to being a Taco Tuesday, the first Tuesday home game of every month will feature a formal salute to San Diego County's First Responders.
