Bid on Giants items and aid cancer research

Auction features bowling event with Affeldt, Lopez and 'VIP Experience' with WS trophies

SAN DIEGO -- The Giants are offering experiences with a pair of left-handers and a trio of trophies, both of which promise to be popular, in Major League Baseball's special Winter Meetings auction.

Fans can bid on an outing of bowling with relievers Jeremy Affeldt and Javier Lopez, who are both known for throwing plenty of strikes -- at least on the diamond.

The other Giants-related attraction up for auction is a "VIP Experience" with the club's 2010, '12 and '14 World Series trophies.

Bidding in the auction concludes Thursday at 8 p.m. PT.

The event is part of MLB's "Stand Up To Cancer" (SU2C) initiative. Funds raised from this year's auction will be donated to LUNGevity, the largest national lung cancer-focused non-profit. The auction is being held in memory of Monica Barlow, the late Baltimore Orioles public relations director, who fought lung cancer until dying in February 2014. Barlow and her family were devoted supporters of LUNGevity.

MLB, MLB Advanced Media, MLB Network and the 30 big league clubs pooled resources to organize the auction.
