Blue Jays claim righty Brummett from Phillies
The move continued a busy stretch for Toronto, which won waiver claims on Marlins outfielder Scott Cousins and Yankees reliever Cory Wade on Wednesday.
Brummett split most of this season between Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley, making eight starts out of his 44 appearances. The 28-year-old posted a 5-6 record with a 3.20 ERA and two saves. He struck out 83 batters and walked 29 in 90 innings.
The Phillies' seventh-round pick in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft made his lone big league appearance thus far on Oct. 3 at Washington, giving up two hits and striking out two in two-thirds of a scoreless inning.
Brummett has gone 26-47 with a 4.52 ERA over six Minor League seasons in the Phillies organization, making 83 starts out of his 194 games.
