Blue Jays claim Venditte

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have claimed LHP/RHP PAT VENDITTE off waivers from Oakland. INF DARWIN BARNEY has been designated for assignment.

VENDITTE, 30, is best known for being an ambidextrous pitcher, switching throwing hands to gain a platoon advantage. The Omaha, Nebraska native made his Major League debut with the Athletics this season posting a 2-2 record with a 4.40 ERA in 26 relief appearances. Drafted in the 20th round by the Yankees in 2008, Venditte has an 18-22 record with a 2.39 ERA in 268 games (nine starts) over eight minor league seasons.
