Wang designated as Blue Jays reinstate Loup

Right-hander went 1-2 with 7.67 ERA in six starts for Toronto this season

Chien-Ming Wang's Blue Jays career was short-lived, as the right-hander was designated for assignment on Monday following Saturday's poor start.

Left-hander Aaron Loup was reinstated from the paternity list to replace Wang. Wang's departure also opens a spot on the 40-man roster.

Wang lasted only three innings in Saturday's 8-5 loss to the Astros, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and a walk. He went 1-2 in six starts for the Blue Jays this season, pitching to a 7.67 ERA with 14 strikeouts and nine walks over 27 innings.
