Buehrle loving power-packed support system

TORONTO -- Pitchers from across the Major Leagues have to be envious of the situation left-hander Mark Buehrle finds himself in this year.

Buehrle, who is a perfect 3-0 on the season, has been getting more run support than he knows what to do with. Toronto hasn't just been scoring runs when Buehrle's been on the mound, the club has been completely blowing away its opponents.

The Blue Jays scored 12 runs in each of Buehrle's first two outings on the mound. They went one better on Tuesday night by chasing Orioles right-hander Bud Norris from the game in the third inning of a 13-6 victory.

"I wouldn't want to be an opposing pitcher going up against me the way we're scoring runs right now," Buehrle said with a wide grin. "It's been fun."

Edwin Encarnacion led the way with a pair of home runs while Jose Bautista added one of his own following yet another dustup with a member of the Orioles' pitching staff. But the big sluggers weren't the only contributors on a night when every member of the starting nine reached base at least once.

Dalton Pompey went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored. Josh Donaldson doubled twice, Dioner Navarro doubled once and nearly added a second, Ryan Goins had three RBIs and Russell Martin scored a pair of runs. There were contributions from nearly every spot in the order.

It was the fourth game this season that the Blue Jays have scored at least 10 runs. Three of those came with Buehrle on the mound, and that has made his job pretty easy during the first month of the season. While Toronto keeps adding runs, Buehrle keeps going about his business as normal and has recorded three consecutive quality starts in all of those blowouts.

"We just have to stay consistent," Buehrle said. "It seems like we score 11 or 12 today and we don't score very many the next day. If we can just stay consistent, it will be fun to watch."
