Blue Jays sign Smoak

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have signed 1B JUSTIN SMOAK to a one year contract worth US $1 million.

SMOAK, 27, was acquired by the Blue Jays on October 28 off waivers from Seattle, prior to being non-tendered last night. The former 1st round pick (11th overall) of the Texas Rangers in 2008 has spent parts five seasons in the Major Leagues producing a .224 average with 74 home runs in 566 games, with all but 70 games (TEX) coming in a Seattle uniform.
