• The Yankees had some laughs at Brendan Ryan's expense after the infielder crumpled to the ground after being hit in the elbow by a breaking ball in the ninth inning of Friday's 7-0 win over the A's. Ryan stayed in the game and X-rays were negative.
"I know I'm going to be subject to a lot of flak from the guys, I'm sure. Deservedly so," Ryan said. "It hit the funny bone. My fingers curled up. I couldn't move my fingers, and the whole thing was like on fire.
"It's just embarrassing it was on a curveball, you know? I don't think I've ever reacted like that to a breaking ball."
