Crawford day-to-day with calf, side tightness

PHOENIX -- Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford could miss a game or two after leaving Tuesday night's 6-2 Giants victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks with tightness in his left calf and side.

Manager Bruce Bochy observed that Crawford's ailments appear to have become related. "I think the calf might be affecting his oblique," Bochy said. "So he might need a couple of days [off]."

Crawford made a pair of eye-popping plays from deep short to record outs in the first inning. The second play, which forced Crawford to double-clutch the ball, might have exacerbated his injuries, Bochy said. Ehire Adrianza replaced Crawford in the fourth inning.

Crawford, a 2015 All-Star, missed five games with an injured left oblique from Aug. 26-30, then was sidelined for three more games from Sept. 1-3 after he was struck in the calf by a pitch from Dodgers reliever Chris Hatcher on Aug. 31.
