Braves conclude day two of 2015 First-Year Player Draft
Eleven of Atlanta's first 13 selections are pitchers
The Atlanta Braves tonight completed the second day of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft by selecting eight players in addition to the five selections made on the first day of the draft. Through the first 10 rounds, the 13 draftees include 11 pitchers (eight right-handed, three left-handed), one third baseman and one catcher. Atlanta has selected eight college players, while the remaining five players drafted were chosen out of high school.
In the sixth round (180th selection overall), Atlanta selected right-handed pitcher Matt Withrow, the brother of Braves right-handed pitcher Chris Withrow (acquired on May 27th from the Los Angeles Dodgers in a six-player trade). On the first day of the draft, the Braves selected high school teammates, as their first selection (14th overall) Kolby Allard and their second-round pick (54th overall) Lucas Herbert were battery-mates at San Clemente (Calif.) High School.
The 40-round First-Year Player draft will continue on Wednesday (June 10) at 12:00 p.m. with rounds 11 through 40.
