Braves hire Bialas as Minors field coordinator

ATLANTA -- The Braves on Thursday announced the hiring of Dave Bialas to serve as their Minor League field coordinator. Bialas will fill the role that was vacated when Dave Trembley took advantage of a chance to return to the Major League level as a member of the Astros' coaching staff.

Bialas took this past year off after spending each of the previous 19 seasons in the Cubs' organization. He served as the club's field coordinator from 2001-11. Before that, he was Double-A Tennessee's manager (2000-01) and Chicago's bullpen coach (1995-2000).

Before joining the Cubs, Bialas served as San Diego's bullpen coach (1993-94) and spent 11 seasons as a manager in the Cardinals' Minor League system.

The Braves will later announce a replacement for Dave Brundage, who has been hired by the Phillies to serve as Triple-A Lehigh Valley's manager. Brundage had served as Atlanta's Triple-A manager since the start of the 2007 season.
