Braves looking to fill Minors hitting coordinator vacancy

Ortegon's abrupt resignation Thursday led to organizational opening

ATLANTA -- With Spring Training around the corner, the Braves are attempting to fill the Minor League hitting coordinator position that was vacated when Ronnie Ortegon abruptly resigned Thursday night.

Ortegon, who held this position for just one season, cited personal reasons for his decision to leave the organization. His decision was made just three days after the Braves announced that their former Major League hitting coach Greg Walker will spend some time working with Minor League hitters this year.

Given that Walker is a special assistant who is not expected to be around the Minor League players on a consistent basis, the Braves are seeking candidates to fill this full-time coordinator role, which entails developing a hitting program for all the Minor League affiliates and evaluating the progress of the Minor League hitters throughout the season.
