Yanks send Ryan to Cubs to complete trade
Infielder joins Warren in going to Chicago for Castro
The Yankees and Cubs completed the Dec. 8 trade in which they exchanged right-hander Adam Warren and infielder Starlin Castro, with New York sending infielder Brendan Ryan to Chicago on Thursday.
The 33-year-old Ryan is a .234 career hitter in 879 Major League games with the Cardinals, Mariners and Yankees. He hit .229 for the Yankees last season, playing just 47 games due to multiple stints on the disabled list.
Primarily an infielder, Ryan has seen action at every position except for center field and catcher in his career.
The Cubs designated right-hander Yoervis Medina for assignment to make room for Ryan on their 40-man roster. Medina, 27, was 1-0 with a 4.71 ERA in 17 relief appearances with the Mariners and Cubs last season.
