Brewers unveil 2016 Spring Training schedule

Cactus League play begins with split-squad action on March 3

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers will begin their slate of 2016 Spring Training games against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and finish on the road in Houston and Biloxi, Miss., bookending a 32-game schedule unveiled Monday.

The Wednesday, March 2 exhibition against UW-Milwaukee marks the second straight year that the Brewers open at Maryvale Baseball Park against the Panthers. It's the first of 29 scheduled games in Arizona, to be followed by March 31 and April 1 exhibitions against the Astros at Minute Maid Park, then a Saturday, April 2 game against Milwaukee's Double-A affiliate, the Biloxi Shuckers.

Other highlights of the spring slate:

• Cactus League play begins on Thursday, March 3, with split-squad contests against the Cubs at Maryvale Baseball Park and on the road against the Giants at Scottsdale Stadium.

• Most games begin at 1:05 p.m. Arizona time, but the Brewers' schedule also includes three night games, beginning with a 6:05 p.m. (local time) start on St. Patrick's Day against the Rangers at Surprise Stadium on March 17. The other night games are March 21 against the D-backs at Talking Stick (6:40 p.m. local time) and March 28 against the Reds at Goodyear Ballpark (7:05 p.m. local time).

• For fans planning trips, the Brewers play four weekend home games: Sunday, March 6 against the Indians; Saturday, March 12 against the Rockies; Sunday, March 20 against the Dodgers; and Saturday, March 26 against the D-backs. Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to Spring Training on Friday, Feb. 19. All position players have a report date of Wednesday, Feb. 24. The first full workout is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 25.

Tickets for the Brewers' home Spring Training games will go on sale at 9 a.m. CT on Monday, Dec. 7, at Brewers.com and other outlets.
