Brewers community foundation sponsors effort to erase homelessness

On Monday, January 9th the Guest House of Milwaukee, together with the Brewers Community Foundation, will kick off its 30 year anniversary of aiding homeless individuals in the Milwaukee area. Representatives from local media are invited to the Guest House, located at 1216 N. 13th St., at 9:30 a.m. on January 9th to learn details of anniversary celebrations and capture footage of the Brewers’ Racing Sausages setting up cots for homeless men to sleep on at the Guest House.

“We’re so proud to have the Brewers Community Foundation as our Grand Slam sponsor,” said Cindy Krahenbuhl, Executive Director of the Guest House of Milwaukee. “With the assistance of the Famous Racing Sausages™, we plan on showing how something as simple as a warm place to sleep can make all the difference for some individuals. We’re grateful to the Greater Milwaukee Foundation for funding our ‘overflow’ shelter during the winter months.” As Grand Slam sponsor, the Brewers Community Foundation granted the Guest House $30,000 toward its efforts in the community, with the potential for other partnership opportunities throughout the year.

Since 1982, the Guest House has been creating solutions to homelessness in Milwaukee. The Guest House serves men in its emergency shelter with transitional housing programs, and serves men, women, and families in its permanent supportive housing programs. Having established a reputation of high-quality service and sound management, the Guest House is considered one of Milwaukee’s leading homeless service providers. Its mission is to provide shelter, housing, education and services for Milwaukee’s homeless who seek to transform their lives with dignity and purpose.
