Brewers ink Orimoloye, plus 3 other Draft picks

KANSAS CITY -- The Brewers finalized contracts with four more Draft picks on Thursday, including fourth-round selection Demi Orimoloye, an 18-year-old outfielder who will bid to become the first Major Leaguer born in Africa.

Orimoloye, who moved with his family at a young age to Canada and grew up there, will begin his professional career at rookie-level Arizona. The Brewers' three other signings on Thursday were shortstop Blake Allemand (fifth round), left-hander Jake Drossner (10th round) and right-hander Jon Olczak (21st round). Olczak will join Orimoloye at Arizona, while Allemand and Drossner head to the Brewers' advanced rookie-level affiliate in Helena, Mont.

The Brewers did not release any signing bonus figures. They now have formally signed 20 of their 41 selections in last week's Draft, with other agreements still pending final approval.

The highest unsigned pick is University of Virginia left-hander Nate Kirby, taken 55th overall in Compensation Round A. The Brewers have yet to open negotiations because Kirby is still active in the College World Series, and he is slated to start on Friday against Florida. Kirby has been sidelined since April with a strained lat muscle behind his left shoulder.
