Price excited to be coach for NL All-Star team

PHILADELPHIA -- Regardless of which Reds players are voted or named to the 2015 All-Star Game in Cincinnati, the club will have representation in the dugout. The All-Star Game managers formally announced their coaching staffs on Thursday.

San Francisco Giants and National League manager Bruce Bochy selected Reds manager Bryan Price and Dodgers manager Don Mattingly to be on his staff along with his own regular coaches from San Francisco.

"I'm excited about it," Price said. "You know, I've never been to an All-Star Game, it's going to be great to be around Bruce and his staff while we're playing in Cincinnati. It's going to be a great experience. It's an honor to have this opportunity for sure."

The game will be held July 14 at Great American Ball Park, the home of the Reds, and will be televised by FOX.

This is Price's second season as manager in Cincinnati. The 52-year-old was the team's pitching coach from 2010-13.

Reds head athletic trainer Paul Lessard was also named as one of the NL team's trainers.

Of course, Price will find himself without an office for a few days since Bochy will get to use it inside the Reds' clubhouse. Price will use the coaching staff's locker area.

"That's fine," Price said. "I've been on the other side before, too. I'm absolutely fine with that -- just don't drink all the wine in there."
