Burlington County Wins Phillies Softball Carpenter Cup Presented by GDF SUEZ

Burlington County high school all-stars capture Phillies Softball Carpenter Cup championship title, beating Mercer County 10-4

Burlington County won the 11th Annual Phillies Carpenter Cup Classic presented by GDF SUEZ, defeating Mercer County, 10-4, in the championship game, held earlier today at the Phillies MLB Urban Youth Academy Softball Field at FDR Park.

This is the first championship title win for Burlington County since the tournament's commencement in 2005.

"This tournament has been a great experience for these high school all-stars as they were able to showcase their amazing talents in front of college scouts," said Jess Wilt, Phillies Softball Carpenter Cup Coordinator. "All of the players who participated in this year's Phillies Softball Carpenter Cup proved why they are considered the best of the best in the tri-state area. It was a successful tournament, and we would like to congratulate Burlington County for being this year's champions."

Over 250 young women from the tri-state region participated in the tournament, which featured 16 teams representing 22 different leagues competing for the championship title. The event has been a catalyst for many players to receive scholarships and admission to some of the country's finest universities.
