Cardinals draft pair of lefties deep on Day 2
ST. LOUIS -- After making a power move early on Day 2 of the 2015 Draft with the selection of Florida outfielder Harrison Bader, the Cardinals used the second half of the second day of the Draft to add a mixture of college and high school players at a variety of positions on Tuesday before heading into the event's final day.

Round 6: LHP Jacob Evans, Oklahoma
The Cardinals added their first left-handed pitcher of the Draft by selecting Jacob Evans with the No. 191 overall selection. Evans posted a 1.67 ERA in 28 appearances out of the bullpen for Oklahoma as a junior this year.
"I think we're going to try to develop him as a starter at the short-season level this year," Cardinals director of scouting Chris Correa said. "He's got three pitches and he's got command of three pitches, so we want to give him that opportunity."

Round 7: C Jesse Jenner, University of San Diego
St. Louis took its first catcher and second college senior of the Draft by choosing Jesse Jenner, who was named to the Second-Team All-West Coast Conference this season while batting .314 for the Toreros.Complete 2015 Draft coverage
Jenner began his career at Cal State Fullerton and transferred to Grossmont College (Calif.) for his sophomore year before winding up at San Diego.
"Jenner is an advanced receiver," Correa said. "He's going to be able to handle a pitching staff. [He has] limited power, but he's got a good approach and good contact ability at the plate."

The Cardinals picked their second left-handed pitcher in three rounds and their third high school pitcher of the Draft by choosing Oxnevad, an Oregon State commitment who posted a 0.69 ERA in 60 2/3 innings during his senior season.
Round 9: 2B Andrew Brodbeck, Flagler College (Fla.)
Brodbeck became the second left-handed-hitting position player selected by the Cardinals when the club chose him with the No. 281 overall pick. According to Brodbeck's Flagler College bio, former Cardinals World Series MVP David Eckstein is his favorite player.
"He's a fast, scrappy second baseman who is going to add a lot to this organization," Correa said.

Brown tore his left Achilles tendon in a game on April 10, and his stock slipped as a result, but the Miami commitment was 15-for-29 to begin his senior season for a team that won a state title without him.
"I don't think there are a lot of guys with more power potential than Kep Brown in this Draft," Correa said.
