Cardinals Recall Brandon Dickson
Barrett Browning Optioned to Memphis (AAA)
ST. LOUIS, Mo, August 24, 2012 – The St. Louis Cardinals optioned left-handed pitcher Barrett Browning to Memphis (AAA) following yesterday’s game and announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Brandon Dickson from Memphis. Dickson will be in uniform (#65) for tonight’s series opener in Cincinnati.
Dickson, 27, made two relief appearances for the Cardinals earlier this season (May 19 at LAD & May 24 vs. PHI), allowing one unearned run on three hits in his 2.1 innings pitched. He has fashioned a 5-11 mark with a 3.55 ERA in 22 starts at Memphis this season, ranking 4th among Pacific Coast League ERA leaders.
Dickson has posted a 3.25 ERA in four August starts for the Triple-A Redbirds, holding the opposition to a .225 batting average. His last appearance came in a start on August 17 vs. Salt Lake.
