Cardinals cut three pitchers from spring roster

The St. Louis Cardinals announced this morning that they have cut three players from their Spring Training roster, reducing the number of players in Major League camp to 45.

The Cardinals announced that right handed pitchers Victor Marte and Eduardo Sanchez were optioned to the Memphis (AAA) roster and that non-roster right-handed pitcher Michael Wacha has been re-assigned to minor league camp and the Memphis team.

Marte (0-0, 6.23 ERA) appeared in six Grapefruit League games, Sanchez (0-1, 4.26) in seven games, and Wacha, the Cardinals No.1 draft selection from last season, went 1-0, 0.00 ERA in five games, striking out 15 with just one walk in his 11.2 innings pitched.
