Mudcats' series vs. Myrtle Beach postponed

Following bus wreck, Carolina League president Hopkins says makeup dates TBD

The three-game series between the Carolina Mudcats and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Class A Advanced Carolina League has been postponed as a result of Tuesday's bus accident that injured seven Mudcats players and their athletic trainer.

The makeup dates will be arranged at a later date, league president John Hopkins said Wednesday.

"For reasons related to Tuesday morning's bus wreck, the series between the Carolina Mudcats and Myrtle Beach Pelicans will not be played as scheduled," said Hopkins as part of an official press release. "The three-game series was to begin Tuesday and continue through Thursday at Myrtle Beach's TicketReturn.com Field. The Mudcats team has returned to Zebulon, where players and field staff will continue to be medically evaluated. Decisions on rescheduling will be made at a later time."

The injured were taken to a hospital after the accident, but the parent Atlanta Braves have not released specific information about the injuries involved.
