Cespedes returns to A's lineup

ARLINGTON -- After missing four straight games with a strained left hamstring, Yoenis Cespedes returned to the A's lineup in Tuesday's 9-3 win in Texas.

Cespedes made the start against Rangers lefty Martin Perez at designated hitter and went 1-for-1 with a pair of walks before exiting in the seventh.

"He was a little bit sore just from running around, but he's telling me he can play tomorrow," said manager Bob Melvin. "We'll see."

Melvin, still trying to ease his outfielder back into action, would DH him again if he does play in the series finale.

The A's went 2-2 during Cespedes' absence and are 180-103 all-time when he's in the starting lineup, compared to 27-41 when he doesn't.
