Cespedes looking to hit stride in Final Vote

Tigers outfielder Yoenis Cespedes remains in third place behind a pair of American League Central foes in balloting for the Esurance MLB All-Star Final Vote. He'll get a chance to make his case on the same field as one of those competitors when the Tigers open a four-game series against the Twins on Thursday night.

Though the standings remain the same in Thursday's ballot update -- with Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas on top -- Twins second baseman Brian Dozier gained ground on the heels of a home run and two stolen bases Wednesday. Cespedes, meanwhile, made a pair of running catches and scored the deciding run in the Tigers' rubber-game win at Seattle on Wednesday afternoon.

Now Cespedes heads to Target Field, where he has been a blistering hitter over the course of his career, batting 22-for-50 (.440) with eight doubles, a triple and three home runs in 12 games.

Voting is open now at MLB.com to select the final player for each League's 34-man roster via the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote. Fans can cast their votes from a list of five players from each League until 4 p.m. ET on Friday.

It's unclear how much Cespedes might be benefiting some from the Tigers' partnership with the Reds, encouraging fans of both clubs to vote Cespedes on the AL side and Reds ace Johnny Cueto for the National League. Cueto continues to lead the NL field.

Fans can vote for Cespedes and Cueto online at www.tigers.com/vote or www.reds.com/vote, or text "A2" for Cespedes and "N1" for Cueto to 89269 in the United States. Standard message and data rates may apply. There is NO LIMIT to the number of times fans may vote in All-Star Game Final Vote. The winners will be chosen exclusively by fan voting totals.

Tigers fans who vote for Cespedes and select the "Detroit Tigers" as their favorite team will receive an offer to purchase Upper Reserved tickets for $11 for games on Sept. 21-23 against the Chicago White Sox. In addition, fans will be automatically entered to win an autographed Cespedes jersey and four tickets to an upcoming home game.

During the All-Star Game presented by T-Mobile in Cincinnati on Tuesday, fans can once again visit MLB.com to submit their choice for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet. Voting exclusively at MLB.com, online and via their mobile devices in the 2015 All-Star Game MVP Vote presented by Chevrolet, the fans' collective voice will represent 20 percent of the overall vote that determines the recipient of the Arch Ward Trophy.

MLB.TV Premium subscribers will be able to live stream the All-Star Game via MLB.TV through FOX's participating video providers.
